- "The Star Wars universe expands into new territory with the recent announcement of the reprinting of The Shadow War Chronicles by George Lucas and Chris Claremont under the Star Wars banner."
- —Excerpt from the fake announcement
On April Fools' Day, 2006, StarWars.com updated its Databank with elements from Willow and Chronicles of the Shadow War, indicating that the Willow universe would be added to the continuity of Star Wars. Six databank entries (Thorn Drumheller, Elora Danan, Madmartigan, Sorsha, Brownies, Tir Asleen) were written which attempted to plausibly fit events and characters from the Willow universe into that of Star Wars. Two days later, however, the announcement was revealed to be an April Fools' joke.[1]
Nonetheless, Leland Chee later admitted that Lucas Licensing actually considered the idea of merging the Willow and Star Wars universes at one point, although it never came to fruition.[2] On his official StarWars.com blog, Lucasfilm employee Peter Vilmur also acknowledged that some fans still consider Willow part of the Star Wars universe.[3]
