Nockmaar Castle was the residence of Queen Bavmorda. The battle during which the queen fell took place there.[1]

Description[]

Nockmaar Castle was the largest stronghold ever built: some of its outer walls were forty feet thick and contained guardrooms within them. Its battlements were not only impervious to physical damage, but also enchanted against magical attacks. From her tower, which was the tallest of the castle, Queen Bavmorda could survey all the surrounding landscape. In the bowels of the castle were the dungeons, in which many pregnant women were imprisoned in appalling conditions.[2]

History[]

After Bavmorda cursed Tir Asleen Castle and placed its inhabitants in stasis, she chose the Nockmaar Valley as her new site of power. She then enslaved the locals, the shamanistic Nockmaar nomads, and forced them—and many others—to build her a castle.[2]

1342 years after the Nelwyn Arrival Day, an army of rebels came to confront Bavmorda after retaking Tir Asleen from the Army of Nockmaar. Since the fortress was designed to be impregnable, the Nelwyn Willow Ufgood devised a plan to lure Bavmorda's troops out of the castle, relying on their stupidity and their savagery. A battle ensued, during which not only the Army of Nockmaar, but also the evil queen herself were defeated.[2]
