Jade Claymore was a Daikini swordswoman in the service of the royal family of Tir Asleen.
Character history[]
Under the reign of Queen Sorsha of Tir Asleen, Jade Claymore served as a warrior at the castle. She had romantic feelings for the queen's daughter, Princess Kit Tanthalos, with whom she practiced swordfighting. She was adopted by Ballantine and trained to fight under him. Two hundred moons after the fall of Bavmorda, Claymore was supposed to leave Tir Asleen for Galladoorn, where she would join the legendary Shining Legion. However, the kidnapping of Prince Airk Tanthalos by the Gales on the eve of her departure turned the tables, and Claymore decided to accompany Princess Kit on a quest to find her missing brother.[2]
Jade goes on a series of adventures, fighting those that opposed them along the way, as they attempted to find Airk. Eventually, the group reached a dead end at the edge of the Shattered Sea. Jade and the rest of the group wanted to turn around but Elora and Kit decided to jump. Jade and the others realize they couldn't leave Elora and Kit so they jumped too. They found Elora, Airk, and Kit and helped them fight The Crone. They successfully defeated The Crone but realized a bigger war with the Wyrm awaited them.
Personality, appearance and traits[]
Jade was a reliable, trustworthy friend who had a strong moral compass. Jade was a trained swordswoman, and skilled using her sword. Jade had freckled skin and bright red curly hair. Unbeknownst to either of them at first, she was in love with Kit.
Abilities[]
Jade is a talented fighter, relying on strength and skill from years of experience. She uses a sword fighting technique which focuses on slashes and parries to control distance and proximity to her advantage. She is also proficient in horsemanship, throwing shurikens, and dancing.
An orphan raised in the service of Tir Asleen, Jade first worked on the stables, before “Ballantine (the Commander of the Pacalcade) took an interest” and she was trained in combat techniques. Though a reference is made to Jade having been angry and uncontrollable before Ballantine took her under his wing, this is not featured in the series. It may however explain some of her understanding for the oftentimes frustrated Kit.
Among her abilities, Jade is at least somewhat skilled at tracking. She searches for Elora in episode 2 and is sent scouting by Willow in episode 3.
