"Hopefuls" are what potential apprentices to the High Aldwin are called. The High Aldwin perfoms some sort of test on the hopefuls before selecting, or not selecting an apprentice. Early in the film, Willow and two other hopefuls appear before the High Aldwin. When no one can properly answer his single question, he announces, "No apprentice this year!"
