Beyond the Shattered Sea is the seventh episode in the Disney + television series, Willow. The episode aired on January 4, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Our heroes finally reach the place where all maps end: the infinite expanse of the Shattered Sea.
Plot Summary[]
Airk speaks to Lili by a pool of red glistening water. She tells him she’s from Cashmere and he introduces himself as Prince of Tir Asleen. She asks who would kidnap him and he tells her he doesn’t know anything. She tells him she won’t fall for him being a charming prince- the only thing she wants is to get out of there. He tells Lili he saw monsters were the ones who took him and that he tried to leave but he couldn’t.
Airk hears echoes in the pool of water. He sees Kit in the pool of water and jumps in, trying to save her. He almost reaches her and ties to grab her hand. She suddenly jets out of the water after Elora performs a spell to save Kit. The group runs away as the cave starts to collapse around them.
The group arrive at the Shattered Sea. Willow tells them to prepare to walk across it, however Jade says they need to rest because Kit is still weakened. They approach a nearby cottage and see a man passed out in a chair. The older man, Zeb, wakes up and offers them food. They have dinner with the old man, who explains that he was once a warrior for Cashmere but lost his mind on a mission trying to cross the Shattered Sea. The group sleep there and wake up the next morning to the old man offering them breakfast. However, Graydon becomes suspicious when he sees an identical old man walking around in the distance. Graydon urges everyone to get on a watercraft to get away. The Dag and The Doom chase them. The group tries to fight back as the Dag and the Doom try to take Elora, and they manage to escape.
Airk wakes up next to what was previously the red pool but is now sealed. He sees Lili looking down a path with a light coming from it. She thinks it might be their way to escape but Airk warns her not to follow it. She and Airk go outside to talk. She tells him about Cashmere and rumors of a secret sect, the Order of the Wyrm, which has the same mark as the chamber doors. She admits she is the Princess of Cashmere and was also kidnapped.
Elora tells Willow that she wants to train. He tells her how to perform an easy deflection spell and how to use her emotions to make her spells stronger. Kit tells Jade she also wants to train. During one of their training sessions, they kiss.
Elora sees a vision of the Crone and performs a spell that the Crone used, knocking down Willow.
Airk and Lili kiss but Airk stops them. She admits she’s been there longer than him and to let go of his fears and follow her. Airk realizes that Lili is responsible for bringing him there in the first place.
Willow has a vision of Mims in trouble before Boorman wakes him up. Willow tries to contact Mims but he gets a vision. Elora tells him that he’s just having a nightmare.
Graydon sets Kenneth, the Mudmander that pulled their watercraft, free after realizing it’s getting more depressed the closer they got to the Immemorial City. This forced the group to travel the rest of the way on foot. Graydon tells Elora that he loves her but it’s okay if she doesn’t love him back. The group reaches the edge of the Shattered Sea but there is a big cliff.
Willow and Boorman want to head back but Elora says she didn’t come this whole way for nothing. Kit decides that she and Elora can jump off the edge together. They drop into the water and don’t die. They are on the edge of a city and walk through to find Airk, dressed in a different outfit with a new haircut, smiling at them.
